What is the best way to teach myself guitar?

I asked about singing in my last question ... now I need to know how to teach myself guitar. I tend to be fairly musical, so I could be good at it and just don't know it yet -- I'd like to find out. I was inspired by hearing a group called Renegade Creation as well as some others. Do you know of any books or vids that are straightforward, simple, and fast? (I understand about practice, of course ... the school term is over and I have time for it now)
